SUGAR COOKIES
My friend Muriel used to bring these to school and share them with me at lunch time
1 CUP SHORTENING
1 CUP SUGAR
3 EGGS
1-1/2 TSP. VANILLA
3-1/2 CUPS FLOUR
2 TSP. BAKING POWDER
1/2 TSP. SALT
CREAM SHORTENING AND SUGAR.
BEAT IN EGGS ONE AT A TIME AND ADD VANILLA.
GRADUALLY BLEND IN FLOUR WITH BAKING POWDER AND SALT.
IF BATTER IS TOO SOFT, ADD MORE FLOUR.
GARNISH WITH CHERRIES OR ALMONDS.
BAKE AT 350 F FOR 20 MINUTES UNTIL LIGHTLY BROWNED.
