TUNA BAKE

(Mom often made this when I was a kid)

 

2 CUPS CANNED PEAS

1 7 OZ. CAN TUNA

2 CUPS CARNATION CREAM SAUCE

3/4 CUP CRUSHED POTATO CHIPS

 

CARNATION CREAM SAUCE

2 TBSP. MARGARINE

2 TBSP. FLOUR

1/2 TSP. SALT

 1-2/3 CUP CARNATION MILK

 

IN A CASSEROLE DISH RUBBED WITH MARGARINE,

COMBINE DRAINED PEAS AND TUNA.

POUR WARM CARNATION CREAM SAUCE OVER THEM.

CRUSH POTATO CHIPS WITH A ROLLING PIN AND SPREAD OVER THE TOP.

BAKE IN MODERATE OVEN 375 F. FOR ABOUT 25 MINUTES.

 

CARNATION CREAM SAUCE:

PUT MARGARINE, FLOUR AND SALT IN A MEDIUM SIZED SAUCEPAN.

STIR OVER LOW HEAT UNTIL WELL MIXED AND SMOOTH.

GRADUALLY POUR THE CARNATION MILK INTO THE SAUCEPAN WHILE STIRRING.

STIR UNTIL SMOOTH.
